Product Description:

The MDE163-1 Input Module by B & R Automation is designed for precise signal acquisition in industrial automation applications. It features a total of 16 digital input channels. The input signals are electrically isolated from the PLC using optocouplers. Isolation between inputs is not provided in this model. The nominal input voltage is 24 VDC with a working range from 18 VDC to 30 VDC.

The MDE163-1 input module has an input resistance of approximately 2.2 kΩ per channel. This configuration ensures accurate signal detection under industrial conditions. The switching threshold starts at a minimum of 10 VDC. Typical switching occurs around 12 VDC and does not exceed 14 VDC. The input current at 24 VDC is approximately 10 mA per channel. This input module provides fast switching behavior. It records a delay of about 1.5 milliseconds from logic high to logic low. The reverse transition from logic low to logic high takes around 1 millisecond. The input status transfer through the CPU is based on change detection. This function does not involve latch memory operations. The MDE163-1 input module can tolerate short voltage peaks during operation. It withstands 500 volts for 50 microseconds, repeated at most every 100 milliseconds.

The galvanic isolation in MDE163-1 input module protects internal logic and housing against electrical surges. Input to logic isolation is rated at 2500 volts. Input to housing isolation is rated at 1500 volts. This ensures reliable operation in electrically noisy environments. Power consumption at a supply of 5 volts is rated at 0.2 watts. This allows efficient energy use within control systems. This input module device is documented in multiple languages. Its manuals are available in German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Each manual is specific to the MULTICONTROL hardware platform.
