Product Description:
B&R Automation created the MCPEA8-1 the analog input/output module that is capable of generating and acquiring analog signals. For control designs that require precise handling of analog signals, the MCPEA8-1 is the ideal choice. When used in industrial automation applications, the module helps the system function as a whole.
The nominal input range of MCPEA8-1 analog input/output module is 0 to 10 V, and the output signal range is 0 to 10 V. The module also has four analog outputs. Both the input and output resolutions are 10 bits. At 20°C, the gain error is ±0.2% and the basic input precision is ±0.3%. The module has a 0.2% discrepancy in the output at 20°C. Within the temperature range of 0 to 60°C, the input offset drift is ±0.0025% per °C, whereas the output offset drift is ±0.05%. Within ±0.025% per °C, the input gain drift occurs. The linearity of the output is 0.2 percent. About 10 milliseconds is the time it takes for each channel to convert. The module's AINA and AOTA function blocks provide software control. Each channel has a maximum output load of 20 mA, and the input signal range can be as wide as -0.3 V to +13 V. There is no galvanic isolation between channels in this module. Up to 400 Ω can be loaded. System requirements for modular analog I/O control in small automation units can be fulfilled by an analog input/output module.
Since the MCPEA8-1 analog input/output module has no galvanic isolation on the module, it is crucial to ground it properly to ensure steady functioning. There is protection for input signals up to +13 V, so any input variations are kept within permissible ranges. Applications with predetermined thermal ranges are supported by the analog resolution and drift characteristics.
Frequently Asked Questions about MCPEA8-1:
Q: Why does the MCPEA8-1 module offer a maximum output load of 20 mA per channel?
A: The 20 mA output load ensures compatibility with standard analog actuators and prevents signal distortion under varying load conditions.
Q: How does the MCPEA8-1 maintain signal accuracy with a ±0.0025%/°C input offset drift?
A: This low drift minimizes measurement variation due to temperature, ensuring consistent input signal accuracy across operational ranges.
Q: Why does the MCPEA8-1 module use 8-bit output resolution for analog signals?
A: The 8-bit resolution provides sufficient voltage granularity for basic control tasks and supports low-memory systems efficiently.
Q: Does the MCPEA8-1 offer software control through AINA and AOTA blocks?
A: Yes, the module uses AINA and AOTA blocks for flexible analog signal management within automation system architectures.
Q: Why is there no galvanic isolation in the MCPEA8-1 design?
A: The absence of galvanic isolation reduces cost and module size, making it suitable for non-isolated control environments.
