The ECINT1-1 interface module is manufactured by B&R Automation for installation in the ECZ Multi Analog Modules series backplane. Within a control cabinet, it links analog processing boards to serial field devices and allows data exchange with higher-level PCs, PLCs, and diagnostic tools through selectable serial communication. By translating local sensor values or command variables into serial messages, the module supports coordinated motion, batching, and process monitoring tasks in industrial automation lines. This arrangement lets locally acquired analog data be transferred to external control or visualization equipment without adding a separate standalone gateway.
The module draws 160 mA at 24 VDC, and its maximum power demand is 4.3 W, which keeps supply loading easy to predict. Communication takes place through a RS232/RS485 port, and the fastest operating mode reaches 115.2 kBaud. A single twisted-pair segment can include up to 32 stations, and status indication is provided by six LEDs. Automatic overvoltage and reverse-polarity protection help prevent wiring mistakes from damaging the board, and three software-selectable modes adjust handshaking and echo behavior for different serial devices.
