Known for its efficiency and rapid response time, B&R Automation’s ECE243-0 is a powerful digital input module designed for 24 V DC systems. As a compact digital input module, this device is perfect for PLC systems. Specifically, this input module supports up to 24 digital inputs in two groups. Unlike other input modules available on the market today, the ECE243-0 provides galvanic isolation between the input groups and to the PLC. To function properly, this module must be connected to an input supply having a terminal voltage of 24 VDC. Based on the product’s datasheet, this device supports MULTI, MIDI, and M264.

For digital input modules such as the ECE243-0, the input delay is a crucial factor to consider. Generally, the lower the input delay, the better the performance. For critical industrial applications and automation systems, having an input delay of less than 100 msec is a must. The ECE243-0, in particular, has a typical input delay of 10 milliseconds, which is ten times better than most of the input modules available on the market today. As mentioned earlier, this module runs at a nominal input voltage of 24 VDC. It can, however, be operated safely at a minimum and maximum input voltage of 18 VDC and 30 VDC, respectively.

Because of its small form factor and optimized design, the ECE243-0 can achieve low losses during operation. When operated beyond a terminal voltage of 8V, this digital input module consumes about 0.35 watts. At the nominal DC input voltage, this device has a typical continuous current of 10 mA. Since this device does not come with a protective chassis or covering, it must be installed inside a mounting cabinet or integrated within another module.
