Product Description:
B&R Automation designed the ECPTE8-1 PLC module to work with program logic controllers (PLCs). The DIN IEC 584 standard thermocouple sensors of the NiCrNi (Type L) type are compatible with this module.
The ECPTE8-1 PLC module can process measurements with a resolution of 10 bits and covers a temperature range of 0 to 600 °C. Quick data gathering across all eight input channels is made possible by the conversion time, which is under 300 μsec per channel. The basic accuracy at 20 °C is ±0.6%, which yields consistent outcomes for everyday tasks. Eliminating the requirement for hardware-level calibration modifications, the module utilizes software for linearization. The defined gain drift is ±0.026%/K, while the rated offset drift is ±0.062%/K. Within ±0.5% of full scale, linearity is preserved. The temperature of the terminal blocks can be adjusted if necessary. At +8 V, 1.4 W is utilized, at +15 V, 1.0 W, and at -30 V, 1.9 W. Galvanic isolation is not available on the ECPTE8-1 module. With its NiCrNi input type, the sensor satisfies the specified DIN standard. Furthermore, the module is able to manage a maximum of eight inputs due to its support for software-based linearization. Applications in industrial automation that require temperature acquisition across many channels will find this module to be an ideal option.
There is no requirement for the treatment of external interference because there is no galvanic isolation, which is one of the remaining standards. Terminal block temperature compensation ensures that the internal reference is stable. The control needs of industrial automation systems are addressed by the ECPTE8-1 module. In distributed PLC networks, the module guarantees effective thermal data collection and dependable integration.
Frequently Asked Questions about ECPTE8-1:
Q: Does the ECPTE8-1 support fast signal acquisition across all 8 inputs?
A: Yes, ECPTE8-1 achieves fast acquisition using a 300 μsec/channel conversion time. This allows consistent data polling from all eight inputs without delay or lag.
Q: Why is ±0.5% linearity significant for ECPTE8-1 accuracy across the full scale?
A: ±0.5% linearity in ECPTE8-1 ensures accurate representation of input values across the full temperature range. It minimizes deviations in analog-to-digital signal translation.
Q: Do power supply options impact the power consumption values of the ECPTE8-1 module?
A: Yes, ECPTE8-1 draws 1.4 W at +8 V, 1.0 W at +15 V, and 1.9 W at -30 V, affecting power load distribution.
Q: How does ECPTE8-1 maintain measurement reliability with gain drift of ±0.026 %/K?
A: The low gain drift of ±0.026 %/K in ECPTE8-1 ensures minimal signal variation across changing operational temperatures, supporting stable long-term operation.
Q: Why does ECPTE8-1 use software-based linearization instead of hardware-based alternatives?
A: Software-based linearization in ECPTE8-1 reduces circuit complexity and enables easier updates and calibration through firmware adjustments without hardware changes.
