Internal Product Review
The ECPP60MEM-01 is an ECP multi control module built around a 6809 processor with 128 KByte SRAM data memory. Support for RS485/RS232/TTY user serial interfaces and isolated RS485 communication makes integration into mixed-control architectures especially practical. Fast execution at 2.5 msec/K instructions gives this module strong value for dependable machine control.

Product Description:
The ECPP60MEM-01 module belongs to the ECP Multi Control Modules series manufactured by B&R Automation. Designed for compact PLC racks or distributed I/O islands, this unit acts as the central logic resource that sequences machine operations, exchanges data with field devices, and supervises motion or process loops. By embedding program memory, data storage, serial communication ports, and dedicated timing hardware on one board, it removes the need for external microcomputer cards and streamlines the control architecture in packaging, printing, and material-handling lines.
Core execution is handled by a Motorola 6809 CPU that interfaces with 11264 8-bit registers, giving firmware routines immediate access to timers, counters, and I/O flags without extra cycles spent on external RAM fetches. Working variables and buffers reside in 128 KByte SRAM of data memory, so state information survives rapid task switching during interrupt-driven operation. Application code space reaches 42 K instructions, enough for moderately complex state machines and closed-loop algorithms. Once loaded, the controller processes code at only 2.5 msec/K instructions, which allows deterministic scan periods when synchronizing conveyor drives, valve banks, or HMI refresh queues.
Program code is retained in a separate 42 KByte SRAM block that can be uploaded through the TTY-based maintenance port at 62.5 kBaud while the controller remains in place. Live data frames can also be streamed over RS485 or RS232, with user traffic reaching 19.2 kBaud. The differential line drivers are protected by an isolated RS485 channel, whereas the RS232 path remains referenced to logic ground. Typical consumption peaks at 7 W at +8 V, with auxiliary rails of +15 V and -30 V carrying lighter loads, so cabinet power supplies can be sized conservatively.
