Product Description:
The ECPP40IF4-11 is a compact parallel processor module developed by B & R Automation for MULTI and MIDI control systems. Its primary function is to offload communication-intensive tasks and it operates as a standalone co-processor. This module provides interface with a variety of field devices that includes HMIs, drives and external controllers.
The ECPP40IF4-11 module features four independent RS422 serial interfaces that are accessible via front-panel through the 9-pin D-sub connectors. These ports support differential signaling that is suitable for high-speed and noise-immune communication over extended cable lengths in point-to-point or multi-drop serial network configurations. The ECP module has a dedicated 25-pin D-sub-TTY 20 mA current-loop interface with electrical noise immunity to serve as a programming and diagnostics port. Operating at a fixed 62.5 kbps, this interface requires a B & R TTY-to-RS232 converter to connect to a standard PC or programming terminal. This module is powered directly from the system DC bus with regulated 8 V and it consumes 5 W of power. It offers installed in standard MULTI/MIDI 19-inch card cage rack and connects via a DIN 41612 backplane connector. The ECP module measures roughly 15.2 x 5.1 x 22.9 cm and weighs 0.6 kg. It operates in humidity level between 5% to 95%, non-condensing at an altitude up to 6560 ft above sea level without derating and favors an environment of non-conductive pollutants.
The ECPP40IF4-11 module's program and data memory is provided by an external EE32 memory module that offers 16 KB EEPROM for non-volatile storage and 16 KB battery-backed SRAM for runtime execution. The ECP module supports a comprehensive instruction set that supports multiple units per rack and enables high-efficiency distributed processing, particularly for serial data acquisition, ASCII protocol management or real-time command parsing.
