Product Description:
The ECPA81-01 module is an analog output component manufactured by B & R Automation for integration within the ECP Multi Control Modules series. It plugs into the company’s distributed I/O architecture and delivers voltage and current signals that drive actuators, indicators, and proportional devices in industrial automation cells. By converting digital commands from the controller into regulated analog levels, the unit provides precise set-points for drives, valves, or process loops.
This model offers 8 independent output channels, each capable of sourcing or sinking up to ±10 V with a nominal load current of ±20 mA. The converter’s word length is 12 Bit + Sign, allowing 4096 discrete steps plus polarity to minimize quantization error. When all channels are active, the power stage can handle a cumulative load of -80 mA / +160 mA without violating compliance limits. The absence of galvanic isolation ties the module ground to the system common, so external wiring must maintain a uniform reference. Together these electrical characteristics let the module generate both voltage-driven and current-loop signals for mixed-device panels.
Accuracy is supported by a gain drift of ±0.12 % / °C, ensuring scale changes remain small across the 0–60 °C range. Static linearity stays within 0.2 %, so the output curve closely follows an ideal straight line. At 20 °C the module’s offset error is limited to ±0.1 %, and the offset drift only widens by ±0.05 % over the full operating span. A separate gain error of ±0.2 % further defines span accuracy at room temperature. Because the outputs share the same reference, any external suppression of ground noise directly improves these precision figures, making the module suitable for closed-loop control where tight analog tolerance is required.
