Product Description:
The ECPA81-0 is an analog output module produced by B&R Automation as part of the ECP Multi Control Modules series. It occupies a single backplane slot and provides eight independently driven channels for precise voltage control in closed-loop or open-loop automation systems. By converting internal process data into analog signals, the module can command drives, proportional valves, or metering pumps without requiring external converters, which helps keep panel wiring straightforward and preserves a consistent electrical footprint.
Each channel produces a bipolar output of ±10 V and uses a resolution of 10-bit plus sign, giving 1,024 code steps for positive and negative ranges. A nominal gain error of ±0.2 % at 20 °C keeps the transfer curve close to ideal, while a linearity deviation of 0.2 % limits distortion across the span. Offset remains at ±0.1 % at 20 °C and shifts only ±0.05 % between 0 °C and 60 °C, which helps maintain predictable zero points during ambient temperature changes. Channel loading is permitted up to ±20 mA, and the design does not include galvanic isolation, so mixed-signal cabinets require common-ground planning.
The module has low temperature sensitivity, with gain drift limited to ±0.12 %/°C, so slope compensation is rarely needed during extended warm-up periods. With 8 channels active, the combined sink and source capability is limited to -80 mA / +160 mA, which complements the per-channel current limit and helps prevent connector overheating. Power consumption is split across the internal rails, and the module draws 4.4 W from -30 V, 3.3 W from +15 V, and 0.5 W from +8 V, which supports backplane supply and thermal planning in dense module groups.
