The ECNT44-1 is a power supply module produced by B&R Automation for the ECN PLC Power Supplies series. It converts single-phase mains energy into several regulated DC rails that feed controller racks in MULTICONTROL and MIDICONTROL systems, ensuring stable operation of CPU, I/O, and communication cards during automated processing. Extended diagnostics are not provided, so the module relies on fixed status indicators and passive shielding to communicate operating state.

This unit accepts an input of 240 VAC through line terminals labeled L1, L2, GND, and the internal draw is limited to 1 A Max under full load. For primary-side protection, a 2.5 A 250 V Slow-Blow fuse is fitted, and overvoltage transients are clipped by a front-end Varistor. Power is processed with an Electrically Isolated Switching topology, so the secondary rails are galvanically separated from mains potential and ground-loop currents are reduced in distributed control cabinets.

Total rated output reaches 100 W, distributed across three isolated rails. The positive logic bus delivers +8 V 65 W for backplane logic, the analog supply offers +15 V 100 W for sensor excitation, and the negative reference furnishes -30 V 30 W to support differential measurement circuits and special interface drivers. This arrangement allows load margins to be calculated without exceeding individual limits even when the combined demand approaches the 100 W limit. Electrical isolation also prevents cross-coupling between these outputs, so voltage stability is maintained as current shifts among rails. Because extended diagnostics are absent, fuse continuity and line conditions must be checked externally, while the integrated varistor still helps shield downstream electronics from occasional surges.
