The ECNP02-0 is a backplane power supplier manufactured by B&R Automation. Installed in an ECN rack, the module converts incoming 24 V DC bus energy into isolated low-voltage rails that feed CPU and communication cards. By maintaining stable internal voltages, it supports logic execution, network exchange, and signal conditioning in compact industrial controllers. Because the conversion occurs on the rack backplane, the supply section serves the control electronics directly and keeps the power distribution path short inside the system.

The module delivers 3.3 W on the +15 V plane for analog circuitry and 1.8 W on the +8 V plane for logic and transceiver chips. Data exchange with external diagnostic tools runs through the RS232/TTY service port, while inter-module messaging relies on the backplane's Serial communication medium. For fieldbus expansion, the unit forwards RS485 telegrams over a Twisted Pair line, reducing noise and supporting long cable runs. Separating these rails helps sensitive analog sections operate without sharing the same supply path as fast-switching digital circuits. The communication arrangement also keeps service access separate from routine internal data transfer across the rack. It omits an EPROM module, so memory functions are handled by the adjacent CPU card rather than by the power supply itself.

Within a cabinet, the power supply fits racks labeled MULTI Main 0-F; MIDI 1-7; M264 0-4, and it identifies itself to the host through the INT1 RS485 converter integrated on the board. This arrangement lets the same module type serve multiple compatible frame sizes without changes to the rack interface. Installation uses a passive backplane connector, so the module does not need direct external field wiring at the power supply itself. Diagnostic software recognizes the unit through the ECN PLC Power Supplies coding stored in the identification register. The omission of an onboard EPROM also keeps memory handling with the controller, which leaves the power supply focused on rack power conversion and communication support.
