The ECFP384-0 is a pluggable memory module manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the ECF Memory Modules series. Installed on select CPU bases, the module supplies non-volatile storage for firmware, user programs, and configuration data, maintaining control logic during power loss. By retaining compiled code and parameter sets locally, it keeps application data available to the controller and supports distributed industrial automation systems that rely on local program storage during startup.
Its total memory capacity is 384 KByte, organized as 3 independent blocks held in FlashPROM technology. Each block provides 128 KByte, preventing fragmentation and simplifying address management inside the firmware. Within this layout, the controller reserves 308 KByte exclusively for application data, leaving the remaining space for boot code, checksums, and internal housekeeping. Flash storage endures repeated erase-write cycles without losing content when power is removed, making it suitable for program updates during scheduled maintenance. The deterministic block structure also lets the runtime system map variables and motion tables consistently, reducing execution jitter on time-critical tasks.
The module can hold up to 42 K compiled instructions, matching the execution envelope of control units CP60, CP70, NTCP6# that accept the card through their front slot.
