Product Description:
The ECFP128MP-0 is a FlashPROM memory module produced by B&R Automation within the ECF Memory Modules series. It plugs into Type B CPUs and matching Type B PPs to provide nonvolatile program and data storage for programmable logic controllers, allowing machines to retain recipes, motion sequences, and communication parameters after power is removed. By providing dedicated memory away from the base processor board, the module simplifies replacement and supports quick setup in industrial automation environments.
This module contains 128 KB of onboard Flash memory, with up to 48 KB available for variable application data and another 42 KB reserved for user instructions. A separate 34 KB segment stores system firmware used during PLC startup. The module has 3 physical ports: an RS232 service socket, a modem jack, and an RS485 fieldbus connector. The RS485 port uses differential signaling, which supports multidrop networks and helps maintain reliable communication in electrically noisy factory environments. FlashPROM technology supports repeated write and erase cycles without mechanical wear, making the module suitable for frequent recipe updates. Program transfer can take place locally through the RS232 connection or remotely through the built-in modem interface.
Once installed, the module can coordinate up to 16 PLC Processors across a shared online network, allowing multiple controllers to exchange variables without external gateways. The RS232 service cable can run up to 10 m, which is suitable for cabinet-level maintenance connections. The RS485 trunk can be extended to 1200 m over a Twisted Pair line to cover larger plant layouts. Within those limits, the online interface handles addressing and diagnostics so code segments and log files can be transferred without interrupting normal control tasks.
