Product Description:
The ECFP128-0 memory module is produced by B & R Automation as a member of the ECF Memory Modules series. Designed for installation beside compatible processor units, the module stores firmware, user programs, and operational parameters that a controller needs during power-on. In an industrial automation cell, it supplies non-volatile code and data so that machine sequences resume immediately after a restart.
Inside the module, a capacity of 128 KByte of non-volatile space is organized as 1 block, simplifying addressing and reducing fragmentation during updates. Up to 42 K compiled instructions can be stored, allowing medium-sized control tasks to reside entirely on the card. Of this space, 52 KByte is reserved for application data, letting recipes, counters, or calibration tables persist through power cycles. The storage medium is a Flash PROM, so it tolerates high read counts while enabling electrically erasable reprogramming without removing the card. Programming is carried out from the processor module, which writes compiled code into the memory; the same location also handles deletion without requiring auxiliary fixtures. A PGM LED on the module indicates active write or erase operations, helping prevent premature removal.
The card interfaces electrically and mechanically with B & R controller families CP60, CP70, NTCP6# and panel processors PP60, PP60 MEM, allowing use across those compatible platforms without conversion. When an erase command is issued, the scope applies to the Entire Chip, clearing program, data, and the 34 KByte system module area in one cycle. To avoid accidental loss, a Write Protect Switch disables modification commands, while normal read access remains unaffected. When the switch is released, the processor module can modify the stored contents.
