Product Description:

B&R Automation's ECCP70-01 is a CPU motherboard module in the CS IP500 Motherboard Modules series. Installed in MULTI or MIDI rack frames, the board forms the central processing element of a distributed programmable controller, scanning field signals and executing user code for industrial motion, packaging, or material-handling lines. It consolidates memory, I/O handling, and timing resources so downstream terminal cards receive deterministic instructions.

To support large installations, the module manages an analog I/O pool of 256 channels and a digital I/O capacity of 1536 points, each mapped through 7,168 registers for deterministic access. Execution memory is provided by 42 KByte SRAM, while user programs can contain up to 42 K Instructions, giving ample space for sequential, arithmetic, and communication routines. A Motorola 6809 microprocessor handles instruction decoding and state updates, and the module includes 512 hardware timers for pulse generation, period measurement, or task scheduling. An onboard hardware watchdog supervises program flow and forces safe output states if the CPU stalls.

Program and diagnostic traffic reaches the board through the application interface of RS232/RS485/TTY ports; these share a common connector, but only the RS485 lines are electrically isolated, while the RS232 path is not isolated for local terminals. An additional TTY service line runs at 62.5 kBaud for service access and diagnostics. Internal status exchange uses 800 flag bits that can be modified by the PLC or timer events, and deferred operations rely on 64 software timers when hardware-based channels are already assigned. The nonvolatile real-time clock keeps absolute time during power loss, and the hardware watchdog renews its pulse through dedicated areas of the memory map.
