Product Description:
The 8ECH0015.1111A-0 is a motor cable from the CM16 series developed by B & R Automation, for both static and dynamic applications. It has a total length of 15 m and the outer diameter measures 13 ± 0.4 mm. The cable has an outer isolation made of durable PUR material in an orange color, similar to RAL 2003 that offers oil resistance as per EN 60811-2-1.
The 8ECH0015.1111A-0 cable is composed of four power lines with cross section of 1.5 mm² and these are copper stranded with PP insulation. Its wire colors are black, brown, blue and yellow/green. Additionally, there are two supply lines with a 0.75 mm² cross section and these supply lines are made from copper stranded wire with PP insulation as well and the wire colors are white/blue and white/green. The 8ECH cable’s signal section consists of two 0.30 mm² and four 0.15 mm² wires, the 0.30 mm² wires are copper stranded while the 0.15 mm² wires are tinned copper stranded. These wires are insulated with PP and their color codes are brown/green, white/green, gray/pink and yellow/violet. The signal lines are shielded with tinned copper braiding and foil to provide more than 85% of optical coverage. The 8ECH cable meets certification standards of UL AWM and bears a temperature rating of 80°C to 90°C along with a maximum tolerable voltage rating of 1000 V.
The 8ECH0015.1111A-0 cable supports up to 3 million flex cycles and possess a test voltage of 4 kV, both wire-to-wire/wire-to-shield. Its conductor resistance is ≤13.3 Ω/km for power lines and ≤26 Ω/km for supply lines while the insulation resistance measures ≥200 MΩ·km. This 8ECH cable features a 13-pin female Speedtec motor connector with IP66 protection and an 8-pin male mini I/O encoder connector that is rated IP30 in connected state.
Frequently Asked Questions about 8ECH0015.1111A-0:
Q: What functional role does the separate 0.75 mm² supply line play in the 8ECH0015.1111A-0 design?
A: The supply lines provide auxiliary voltage for encoder feedback or brake control, isolating logic-level power from main drive voltage for noise immunity.
Q: How does the PP (polypropylene) insulation enhance the 8ECH0015.1111A-0's performance under thermal stress?
A: PP insulation offers a low dielectric constant and high melting point (~130°C), ensuring signal integrity and minimal capacitance rise under sustained 80–90°C operation.
Q: How does the 4 kV test voltage specification affect insulation breakdown resistance in 8ECH0015.1111A-0?
A: It verifies dielectric strength between conductors and shields, qualifying the cable for systems exposed to transient overvoltages and inverter-fed motor systems.
Q: What are the mechanical advantages of the PUR outer jacket used in 8ECH0015.1111A-0?
A: The halogen-free PUR sheath resists abrasion, cutting, and oil ingress (per EN 60811-2-1), ensuring long cable life in drag chain or robotic motion.
Q: Why does the 8ECH0015.1111A-0 cable have different conductor sizes for signal (0.15/0.30 mm²)?
A: Differentiated sizing allows for split usage—0.30 mm² for encoder supply or control and 0.15 mm² for low-power sensor lines—maintaining correct impedance.
