Product Description:

The B & R Automation’s 5CASDL.0018-00 Motor Cable is an industrial precision cable with a cable wire cross section of 28 AWG to facilitate low-voltage control signal transmission with negligible power loss. The conductor resistance of this motor cable is rated ≤237 Ω/km to ensure effective current flow throughout the cable length without appreciable voltage drop.

This 5CASDL.0018-00 Motor Cable is supplied with an overall length of 1.8 meters (±30 mm), and it is suitable for medium-range installations in industrial applications where space and routing are limited. This cable adheres to a minimum bending radius of five times the cable diameter, providing flexibility without degrading the internal conductor or shielding system. This cable is fitted with 2x DVI-D (24+1), male connectors, which have gold-plated contacts to improve corrosion resistance and ensure maximum electrical conductivity for digital signal integrity. The metal connector housings include crimped strain relief, providing strong mechanical protection and minimizing the possibility of wire damage from motion or tension at connection points. For shielding and signal integrity, this cable features a tinned copper braiding with more than 85% optical coverage to offer effective interference immunity against external electromagnetic interference (EMI). The insulation resistance of the 5CASDL.0018-00 cable is at least 10 MΩ/km to ensure safe and reliable operation under low-voltage conditions.

The PVC material of this cable’s outer sheath is colored black for consistent industrial identification, and PVC offers a balance of chemical resistance and mechanical protection. The 5CASDL.0018-00 cable is rated at an operating voltage of 30 V or less and accommodates an 80°C temperature rating under the UL AWM STYLE 20176 specification. This motor cable is also VW-1 flame-resistant, providing additional safety where there is a possibility of heat or flame exposure. As per EN 61131-2, this cable falls under Pollution Degree 2, which means it is appropriate for non-conductive contaminated environments. This cable is also marked with E74020-C (UL) to ensure traceability and conformity.

Frequently Asked Questions about 5CASDL.0018-00:

Q: Why is gold plating used on the DVI-D connectors?

A: Gold plating prevents oxidation and ensures low contact resistance. It supports consistent signal transmission over extended use.

Q: How does the tinned copper braiding in 5CASDL.0018-00 improve performance?

A: Tinned copper braiding increases EMI shielding efficiency and enhances corrosion resistance. This helps maintain stable signal quality in high-interference environments.

Q: What is the purpose of the crimped strain relief in 5CASDL.0018-00?

A: The crimped strain relief minimizes stress on internal conductors during cable movement. It also improves durability at the connector interface.

Q: Why is Pollution Degree 2 classification important?

A: Pollution Degree 2 defines environments with non-conductive contamination. It ensures the cable is suitable for controlled industrial settings.

Q: How does a 28 AWG wire affect current carrying capacity?

A: 28 AWG is ideal for low-current applications like signal transmission. It reduces voltage drop over moderate distances.
