Product Description:
The 8JSA53.E6040D701-1 is a permanent-magnet synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8JS Synchronous Motors series. Designed as a compact rotary motor, it connects to compatible servo drives to create a closed-loop motion axis. The resulting system delivers accurate torque and speed for pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, and light conveyor sections in automated production lines. Its compact housing allows installation where available machine space is limited, while the permanent-magnet rotor supports responsive acceleration during repetitive motion cycles.
The motor develops a nominal shaft speed of 4000 rpm, supporting rapid operating cycles. Its self-cooling housing dissipates heat through the frame without requiring external fans or additional cooling equipment. Position feedback is generated by an optical EnDat 2.1 encoder with 2048 lines. After interpolation, the feedback path provides 13-bit single-turn resolution with no multiturn tracking and an accuracy of ±20 arcsec. The encoder supplies absolute position data for one mechanical revolution without requiring battery-backed memory. A length code of 3 provides a balance between continuous torque and overall motor depth. The size 5 mechanical frame is compatible with appropriately sized gearboxes and couplings.
Cabling exits through an angled swivel connector, allowing tight routing while reducing strain on the terminals. The housing supports flange mounting for direct attachment to a machine plate or gearbox. A keyed output shaft provides positive engagement with pulleys, couplings, and other driven components during repeated acceleration and deceleration. An internal oil seal limits lubricant migration from attached gear stages and helps protect the motor bearings in dusty or moist operating areas. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so an external clamp or another mechanical holding device is required when a vertical axis must remain stationary after power is removed. The frame and rotor arrangement provide moderate inertia for controlled acceleration in medium-power automation applications.
