Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 8JSA42.R0060D000-0 synchronous motor within its 8JS Synchronous Motors series. This motor serves as a compact rotary actuator for industrial automation, converting regulated drive current into controlled torque and speed for feeders, pick-and-place arms, or indexing tables. When integrated with B & R servo drives, it provides closed-loop motion for high-cycle equipment that requires repeatable positioning and acceleration.
The unit develops a rated shaft speed of 6000 rpm, giving drives a broad velocity range for rapid traverse and process feed zones. A self-cooling housing disperses thermal losses without external fans, allowing continuous operation in tightly packed installations. Rotor position feedback is supplied by a brushless resolver. Its absolute measurement error remains within 10 angular minutes, allowing the controller to maintain precise commutation during rapid dynamic motion. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so any static load must be secured by drive torque or an external mechanical lock.
Power and signal leads exit through an angled swivel connector, allowing the cables to rotate into a suitable path inside the machine frame. The stator body seats against a machine mounting surface through a flange mounting face, simplifying concentric alignment with gearboxes or belt pulleys. Output torque is transferred through a smooth shaft, which accepts press-fit couplings when backlash must be minimized. The frame is coded as size 4 and has a length index of 2, balancing inertia against continuous power density. Because no oil seal is fitted, the installation area must remain free of lubricant spray that could enter the motor. Careful routing around the swivel connector also prevents power and feedback cables from rubbing against nearby moving parts during repeated machine cycles.
