Product Description:
The 8JSA31.E5050D800-0 synchronous motor is produced by B & R Automation within the 8JS Synchronous Motors series. It converts three-phase drive output into precisely regulated rotation for axes in packaging, assembly, and material-handling lines. The motor has frame size 3 and length code 1, giving it a compact envelope that integrates easily into servo modules while supporting the dynamic response required in industrial automation.
The motor’s nominal shaft speed is 5000 rpm, allowing the connected drive to operate the motor continuously at its rated speed without exceeding applicable thermal limits. Position feedback is supplied by an optical EnDat 2.1 encoder that combines serial data transmission with strong resistance to electrical noise. Its base resolution is 13/12 bits for single-turn and multi-turn data, providing fine incremental position information for precise motion control. An accuracy of ±60 arcsec helps minimize following error during closed-loop operation. The motor uses self-cooling, so it does not require an external fan or coolant circuit. A smooth shaft simplifies connection to precision gearheads, while an integrated oil seal helps prevent lubricant from migrating along the shaft during continuous operation.
The encoder stores absolute position across as many as 4096 revolutions, allowing the controller to recover the axis position after a power cycle without requiring a new homing sequence. A permanent-magnet brake supplies 2.5 Nm of holding torque so vertical or overhung loads remain stationary when the drive is disabled. This brake is the standard option installed on the model and provides passive load retention when motor power is unavailable. The housing supports flange mounting, enabling rigid alignment with a machine plate or compatible gearbox. Power and feedback conductors exit through an angled swivel connector, allowing the cable bundle to be rotated to reduce strain and accommodate confined machine layouts. The adjustable cable direction also helps keep the conductors clear of adjacent components and moving equipment.
