Product Description:
The 8BAC0123.002-1 interface card is produced by B&R Automation for the 8BA ACOPOS Modules series. Installed in an ACOPOS drive rack, the card conditions incremental encoder feedback so the motion controller can synchronize servo axes with precise phase information. It interprets square-wave pulse trains from standard industrial encoders and forwards position data to the drive in real time, making it a core element when accurate closed-loop motion is required in automated machinery.
All field wiring terminates on a 15-pin male D-Sub connector, allowing quick encoder replacement without rewiring. The built-in digital filter has four discrete settings, allowing noise suppression while maintaining edge fidelity. An internal regulator delivers a dedicated 24 V encoder supply, eliminating the need for an external power rail. The hardware processes incoming A/B signals with an evaluation factor of 4×, so each quadrature cycle is expanded into four countable positions for finer resolution. For reliable logic recognition, the high-level input must be more than 14 V, ensuring a clear distinction from noise on long cable runs.
A logic-low signal is accepted when the input level is less than 5.5 V, complementing the high threshold and providing adequate hysteresis. The interface supports shielded cables up to 25 m long, provided the required 90-degree phase shift between channels is maintained. Continuous operation is permitted at temperatures up to 55 °C, and the board tolerates transport humidity of 95% at 40 °C without degradation. The 24 V single-ended or differential interface conveys the square-wave pulse signal and is protected against short circuits. Downstream electronics receive position data through an auxiliary output rated at 24 V ±10%, maintaining consistent amplitude under varying load conditions.
