The 8B0P0220HW00.001-1 power module is produced by B & R Automation within the 8B0 ACOPOS Multi Power Supplies series. It is an AC-fed front-end that generates a regulated DC link for the ACOPOS Multi servo drives mounted downstream. By buffering line energy and coordinating braking dissipation, the device ensures stable voltage for axis amplifiers during acceleration, regeneration, or idle states. In production machinery such as packaging, printing, or assembly lines, the module centralizes power conversion, simplifies cabinet wiring, and allows several inverters to share one protective supply and braking circuit.

On the control side, the unit accepts a logic power feed at 25 VDC ±1.6%, keeping internal electronics supplied even when the mains is off. For the main bus, it can deliver a continuous output of 8 kW, while short-term surges are handled by a peak rating of 24 kW. Energy is buffered inside a capacitor bank totaling 660 µF, which smooths line ripple and stores regenerative energy before it is either consumed or dissipated. The module supports loads up to 15.6 kVA when the upstream protection uses the recommended 30 A fuse. A 10 A inrush limiter curbs charging current at power-up, and overall self-consumption does not exceed 12 W.

The integrated chopper stage routes excess DC energy to an external brake resistor; it can dissipate 3 kW continuously and accepts transients up to 40 kW as long as the resistor is no lower than 12 Ω. Mechanical dimensions of 106.5 mm in width, 263 mm in depth, and 317 mm in height fit standard 300 mm cabinet frames without additional spacers. Convection paths remain unobstructed up to the maximum operating temperature of 55 °C, and the housing is rated IP20, which protects against finger contact with live parts but requires installation in a closed control enclosure.
