Product Description:
The 8B0C0160HW00.000-1 is a power supply module produced by B & R Automation within the 8B0 ACOPOS Multi Power Supplies series. It feeds the shared DC bus that links multiple servo inverters, providing regulated auxiliary power and energy buffering for coordinated motion axes in industrial automation cells. Its role is to support centralized power distribution in multi-axis systems where several amplifiers operate from the same energy source and require stable bus conditions during changing load demand.
This unit delivers a continuous DC output of 16 A DC and has a rated power of 400 W, allowing several compact drives to share one supply channel. The internal link operates at a nominal bus potential of 750 VDC, and an auxiliary electronics rail of 24 VDC ±6% is generated for control logic and sensors. Bus stability is supported by 220 nF of capacitance, which smooths high-frequency ripple on the DC link. When the converter is loaded to its electrical limit, thermal losses reach 45 W, which is important for cabinet ventilation planning. Overvoltage Category III insulation permits direct connection to industrial mains that may experience transient spikes. Power derates by 40 W for every 1000 m above 500 m elevation, so altitude must be considered during system sizing.
Cabinet layout is simplified because the housing is only 53 mm wide, 263 mm deep, and 317 mm high, and it is intended for wall mounting that channels heat upward through natural convection. The electronics remain functional up to 55 °C ambient without forced cooling, provided total consumption does not exceed 445 W. A startup delay of 1 s allows upstream breakers to charge the capacitors gradually, which helps limit inrush current at power-up. Protection is classified at IP20, so the device must be installed inside an enclosure for finger-safe operation. Above 500 m, the stated derating curve controls the permitted load to help prevent overheating in low-density air.
