Product Description:
The 6PPT50.0702-10B operator terminal from B&R Automation belongs to the 6PPT Power Touch Panels series. Designed for machine-level visualization and command entry, the unit combines a projected-capacitive touchscreen with an embedded ARM platform so that controllers, drives, and safety systems can be supervised from the front panel. Its purpose in an automation cell is to present process data, accept operator setpoints, and forward them through fieldbus or Ethernet to higher-level controllers.
An LED backlight drives panel brightness to 500 cd/m², enabling clear reading under factory lighting. Graphics are rendered at a native resolution of 800 × 480 px, which matches the internal frame buffer and helps avoid scaling artifacts. Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processing runs at 800 MHz, allowing smooth animation and multitasking between HMI pages. Application code executes in a dedicated 1 GB DDR3 DRAM space, while recipes and audit logs are stored in nonvolatile 512 MB flash. Communication with PLC networks is possible through a single Gigabit Ethernet interface, and two USB 2.0 Type A ports support barcode readers or memory sticks.
Energy consumption remains low; typical draw is 7.4 W and the maximum is 8.8 W when every peripheral is active. The panel operates from a regulated 24 VDC supply and withstands washdown cleaning thanks to a front rating of IP65, while the rear is limited to IP20 inside the cabinet. Illumination life is long, and brightness falls to half only after 50,000 h of cumulative use. User input is registered through PCT technology, allowing operation with thin gloves. The active screen measures 7.0 in diagonally, supplying enough area for multi-window diagnostics without enlarging the footprint. The unit also monitors the supply rail and can report overvoltage events during operation.
