The 5PC720.1214-00 is a panel-mounted industrial PC manufactured by B&R Automation for the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It integrates processing power, display hardware, and a touch interface, so it can serve as the human-machine interface directly on a machine cabinet. Operators use the unit to issue commands, view process parameters, and exchange data with supervisory controllers across standard Ethernet networks in demanding production environments. Because the PC combines the display and control interface in one housing, it supports local machine operation without a separate external terminal.

The front side carries a 12.1 in. (307 mm) TFT panel that renders graphics at 800 × 600 pixels. Image quality is aided by a 450 cd/m² luminance rating and a contrast ratio of 800:1, allowing status screens to remain legible under shop-floor lighting. The screen accepts input through an analog resistive touch layer that responds to finger or stylus pressure without needing capacitive coupling. A gasketed aluminum bezel provides IP65 protection from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, so the computer can be wiped down during routine maintenance. The enclosure measures 362 mm in width and 284 mm in height, enabling installation in control doors where space is limited. Video can also be routed externally through a DVI-I monitor interface when a larger display is required. This arrangement allows the same unit to present process data at the machine while also feeding a secondary display when needed.

Data exchange with controllers and higher-level networks is handled by two RJ45 ports that run at 10/100 Mbit/s, while legacy equipment can be connected through 2 × RS232 serial channels. Three USB interfaces support service keyboards, memory sticks, and barcode readers. This mix of ports allows the panel PC to exchange data with control hardware while still accepting common local peripherals. The system draws power from a 24 VDC ±25% supply and consumes a nominal current of 3.8 A, allowing it to share low-voltage power rails with sensors and I/O modules. Internal spacing leaves room for heat dissipation, and a DVI-I link, two Ethernet ports, and the USB connectors remain accessible on the rear panel for simplified cable routing.
