The 5D5601 operator panel is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 5D5 Provit Interface Panels series. Intended as a human-machine interface within automated lines, it combines a graphic screen and dedicated keys so operators can monitor process variables and issue commands at the machine level without opening the main control cabinet. This arrangement gives the machine a local point for status viewing and control input during normal operation. The mechanical housing uses an anodized aluminum frame that resists corrosion and provides rigidity for the front display assembly.

This panel employs a TFT color screen with a CFL backlight that reaches 300 cd/m2, a level suitable for brightly lit factory halls. The screen has a 12.1 in (307 mm) diagonal viewing area, and image clarity is provided by an 800 × 600 px resolution. An IP65 rating on the front surface blocks dust and water jets, and protection is reinforced by a polyester decor foil and a flat gasket seated between the bezel and enclosure. The display renders 262,144 colors, while its outer dimensions of 482 × 310 × 31 mm allow integration into standard panel cutouts. A single system key with an LED is placed apart from the main keypad for service access, making it easier to separate general operation from service-level functions.

For continuous duty, the backlight has a rated life of 50,000 h, reducing interruptions related to lamp replacement. Remote operation can be extended up to 10 m from the controller, which simplifies placement on large machines where the operating position needs to be set away from the control hardware. Rear ingress protection is set at IP20, matching standard cabinet interiors, while the keypad supplies 46 function keys with integrated LEDs so operators can trigger predefined actions even in low ambient light. The rear protection level suits enclosed installation, and the illuminated keys help keep commands visible during routine machine use.
