Product Description:
B&R Automation manufactures the 5D5501.13, a panel in the 5D5 Provit Interface Panels series that serves as the operator-level human-machine interface for automated equipment. The unit combines a resistive touchscreen with fixed hardware keys so operators can initiate mode changes, confirm alarms, and review process data at the machine. Its aluminum chassis occupies 310 × 387 × 38 mm of cabinet space and, at 3.7 kg, can be mounted on standard swing arms without additional bracing. A molded front gasket compresses against the enclosure cutout to maintain a sealed front surface once the clamps are tightened.
The display measures 10.4 in (264 mm) on the diagonal and uses a color TFT panel that reproduces process graphics at a native resolution of 800 × 600 px. Illumination is provided by an LED backlight rated for 180 cd/m², giving clear visibility under typical plant lighting, and its service life reaches 10,000 h before replacement is recommended. Ten soft keys underneath the screen receive dynamic labels from the runtime software, allowing context-sensitive navigation without external overlays. A rear service hatch grants access to the field wiring terminals, and a USB maintenance port allows recipe files or application data to be loaded directly from a flash drive.
The front foil, glass, and gasket achieve IP65 ingress protection, blocking dust and water jets encountered during washdown or material handling. In addition to the touchscreen, operators have access to 13 dedicated function keys that provide tactile feedback through an embossed dome design. The electronics remain functional in ambient temperatures of 0 to 50 °C, while the control board and display continue to perform at relative humidity levels from 5 to 85 %. During storage or transit, internal components withstand -20 to 60 °C without performance degradation.
