The 5D5500.47 is a durable industrial display unit produced by B & R automation company through a combination of past design experiences and some of the latest industrial technology. The display unit is intended to be used in combination with either the IPC5000 or the IP5600 industrial controller series produced by the same company. For the IPC 5000, the display unit can be directly mounted on the housing of the controller using the six screws delivered with the controller. However, the unit dimension of the IP5600 controller does not allow for the direct installation of the display unit. In this case, the display unit operates the controller remotely and should be mounted at a distance not more than 10 meters from the controller.
The 5D5500.47 display unit features a Thin Film Transistor display type and a Compact Florescent Lamp (CFL) as its background light. The resolution of the display is about 640 x 480 pixels. The 5D5500.47 is rewound for its ability to display more than 250,000 colors, operators should note that the actual number of colors of the display unit depends on the graphics memory used, the graphics mode set, and the graphics driver employed. The background light of the display unit has an expected lifespan of at least 50,000 hours. After this, the brightness reduces by 50 percent.
The 5D5500.47 display unit does not feature the touch screen technology, instead it is equipped with about 23 function keys with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The weight of the 5D5500.47 display unit is approximately 3.7 kilograms. The front panel of the display is designed to meet the IP65 protection class, while the back side meets the IP20 protection category.
