The 5D5500.06 interface panel is manufactured by B & R Automation within the 5D5 Provit Interface Panels series. Serving as a machine-level HMI, it combines a graphic screen and membrane keys so operators can view process values and send commands to connected controllers. The unit supports central or distributed mounting, which allows it to fit production lines, packaging machinery, and assembly stations with different panel layouts. Its anodized aluminum front resists surface wear, and the slim housing helps keep console depth low for easier placement on doors, pedestals, or operator stations.

The display subsystem uses a 10.4 in diagonal VGA Color TFT panel that renders graphics at 640 x 480 px. Color depth reaches 261,144 shades, which helps separate status icons, alarms, and trend lines on the screen. The panel includes 13 membrane function keys for fixed machine commands, and a separate row of ten programmable soft keys supports context-sensitive selections from the control program. This arrangement lets frequently used actions stay on dedicated keys while screen-dependent functions can change with the active page. The VGA format also supports common page layouts without the need for unusual scaling on the display.

The front face carries IP65 protection, so dust and low-pressure water jets cannot enter when the panel is sealed in the cabinet cutout. Overall dimensions are 390 mm in length and 310 mm in width, which fit standard control door layouts and support retrofit work with limited modification. Rear electronics are rated IP20, which is suitable once the unit is installed inside the cabinet interior. This enclosure arrangement protects the user-facing surface in exposed production areas while keeping the rear section intended for enclosed electrical spaces. The size also gives enough front area for the screen and key field without making the panel overly bulky.
