Product Description:
The 5D5212 operator panel is produced by B & R Automation and belongs to the 5D5 Provit Interface Panels series. It functions as a human-machine interface between higher-level controllers and on-site personnel. The panel presents process data and accepts commands directly at the machine.
A TFT color screen forms the core of the unit, offering a diagonal of 15 in (381 mm). Images are rendered at 1024 × 768 px XGA resolution with a luminance of 200 cd/m², providing sufficient legibility under typical plant lighting. Graphics are drawn from a palette of 262,144 colors, useful for multistate icons and alarm differentiation. Video data reaches the display through the Panellink digital interface, so the graphics controller can be located remotely without analog signal degradation. A CFL backlight supports the panel, and its Accu Touch analog resistive sensor allows finger or stylus input without dependence on operator-specific gloves. The touch layer is bonded to a polyester front foil, which resists common cleaning agents.
For enclosure integrity, the front side achieves IP65 when the flat gasket is compressed against a cabinet door by the anodized aluminum frame, blocking dust and low-pressure water jets. The rear section remains at IP20 because it resides inside the protected cabinet space. Touch coordinates are transmitted over a RS232 link, separating control traffic from the video channel. Panellink cabling can be extended up to 10 m, allowing flexible mounting positions while keeping the computer hardware in a controlled environment. The flat gasket also dampens vibration between the panel and the housing, and the panel’s polyester foil offers additional chemical resistance that complements the mechanical strength of the anodized frame.
