The 5D5100.01 operator terminal is produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5D5 Provit Interface Panels series. It is an HMI panel intended to present process data, accept touch or keypad input, and act as the visual front end for PLC-based machinery. By providing a dedicated display and keyed interface at the machine frame, it eliminates the need for a separate commercial monitor and withstands the environmental stresses typical of industrial automation cells.

The panel employs an LCD module with CFL backlighting that spans 10.4 in diagonally, and this size balances readable character height with compact enclosure depth. Image sharpness is provided by a 640 × 480 pixels native matrix, while graphical richness is supported by 262,144 colors. Operators can view status screens under factory lighting because the screen luminance reaches 70 cd/m². A VGA video interface is used so that standard panel-mount cables and off-the-shelf controller cards can drive the display without format conversion. The decor foil is polyester, and the LCD stack sits behind non-reflective filter glass that cuts glare from overhead lamps. Together with a flat gasket fitted around the bezel, these elements help keep airborne particulates from entering the display cavity.

The aluminum bezel is milled from anodized aluminum, giving the front face mechanical rigidity and corrosion resistance, and the completed assembly measures 310 × 270 × 45 mm. When mounted flush, the front achieves IP65 ingress protection against dust and low-pressure water jets, while the rear is limited to IP20 because it resides inside a sealed cabinet. Operator interaction is unaffected by washdowns thanks to the non-reflective glass and the continuous flat gasket. Signal integrity between the panel and the controller is maintained over a 10 m remote cable, allowing flexible placement on swing arms or door frames without additional extenders.
