Product Description:
The 5D2219.01 operator terminal is a control display panel produced by B & R Automation as part of the 5D2 Control Display Panels series. Intended for HMI duties in industrial automation, it presents process values, alarm dialogs, and menu navigation on its built-in screen while supplying both membrane keys and a touch sensor for data entry. The panel mounts flush on machine fronts and links with controllers through the vendor’s fieldbus modules, acting as the local user interface that bridges human commands to PLC logic.
Its front surface carries an IP65 rating, meaning dust cannot enter and low-pressure water jets do not affect operation, while the rear of the housing remains at IP20 for cabinet-protected wiring. The monochrome LCD measures 5.7 in (145 mm) diagonally, delivers 130 cd/m² of luminance, and renders graphics at QVGA (320 × 240 pixels), which is enough for parameter tables and mimic diagrams. Picture detail is supported by 64 shades of gray, allowing gradients and icon contrast even without color. A CFL source provides the backlight and is specified for 25,000 h before it typically requires replacement, which helps limit downtime in continuous shifts. The display, bezel, and key matrix sit inside a 250 × 220 × 29.3 mm enclosure whose anodized aluminum frame resists surface corrosion and provides mechanical rigidity suitable for vibration zones.
User input is handled by 24 round LED-backlit keys arranged in a fixed matrix, and each keycap has a round shape to ease gloved operation. Behind the front plate, the Gunze Touch sensor uses analog resistive technology, so commands can be registered with a stylus or a finger even when moisture is present. Back protection is rated IP20, which is appropriate for ventilation inside sealed cabinets, and total unit mass is 1.21 kg, permitting installation on light swing arms without overstressing hinges.
