The 5D2200.1 operator interface is produced by B & R Automation and belongs to the 5D2 Control Display Panels series. It combines a TFT color screen with a resistive touch layer, enabling real-time visualization and command entry for programmable controllers on factory floors. By integrating display and input in a single sealed assembly, the unit simplifies control cabinet layouts and provides a consistent platform for machine status, recipe management, and diagnostic feedback.

Mechanical and optical parameters describe how the panel performs on the machine front. The faceplate carries an ingress rating of IP65, preventing dust and low-pressure water jets from reaching the electronics. Visual output is generated on a 10.4 in (264 mm) diagonal active area with a native resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, producing crisp vector graphics for control diagrams. Luminance reaches 200 cd/m², a value suited for indoor industrial lighting. Illumination is supplied by an LED backlight with a service life of 25,000 h, reducing maintenance intervals compared with older CCFL sources. The screen is a TFT color panel, and touch sensing is supplied by Accu Touch technology. Both are bonded behind a flat gasket that supports uniform clamping into enclosure cutouts measuring 310 × 236 × 45 mm.

The rear housing of the panel is protected to IP20, so the interior of the control cabinet must provide the remaining shielding. The front ring is made of anodized aluminum, adding mechanical rigidity while keeping weight moderate. Touch input is registered through an analog resistive system that maintains accuracy even when operators are wearing gloves. Graphic richness is supported by a palette of 262,144 colors, allowing distinct status hues and alarm indications. A polyester decor foil in a black design finishes the surface and maintains chemical resistance against cleaning agents.
