The 5CASDL.0018-03 cable is produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5CA HMI Cables series. It serves as a dedicated DVI link between automation PCs and operator terminals, carrying high-resolution video while remaining suitable for continuous motion in cable tracks. The assembly is intended for moving HMI connections where stable digital display data must be maintained as the cable bends repeatedly along machine sections. Unlike a stationary display lead, it is built for repeated travel inside cable carriers, making it suitable for machine tools, packaging lines, and other automated equipment.

It terminates in 2x DVI-D (24+1), male plugs, and the contacts use a gold-plated finish to help keep insertion resistance low through repeated connections. Video pairs and control conductors are wrapped in an aluminum-clad foil and tinned copper braiding, which provides full electromagnetic shielding against noise from nearby industrial wiring. The cable has an outer diameter of 12 mm, allowing it to pass through narrow conduits without requiring excessive space in fixed routing. In energy-chain service, it supports up to 4800 cycles/hour and is rated for 300,000 flex cycles. Insulation resistance stays above 200 MΩ/km, and dielectric strength is verified at 0.5 kV from wire to shield and 1 kV from wire to wire.

During motion, the cable remains flexible with a minimum dynamic bend radius of ≥15× cable diameter. A special semi-matte TMPU jacket helps protect the core bundles from abrasion and exposure to cutting oils, while the low-voltage design is limited to ≤30 V. Connector screw torque should not exceed 0.5 Nm so the plug hardware stays secure without being overstressed. The jacket surface also helps the cable move smoothly through drag chains where repeated contact with guides and adjacent cables can wear softer materials. These features support stable video transmission in applications that require frequent cable movement.
