The 5CASD3.0500-00 is a preassembled networking lead manufactured by B & R Automation for the 5CA HMI Cables series. This cable forms the physical link between an operator panel and the automation controller, carrying Ethernet-based data while withstanding the mechanical demands of control cabinets and machine frames. Two male RJ45 plugs with 8 contacts terminate the assembly, allowing quick connection to standard industrial switches or panel ports without additional field crimping.

With an outer diameter of 8.3 mm, the cable fits common gland plates yet provides enough space for twisted pairs and shielding. The supplied cable length of 50 m supports long cabinet runs without added extension couplers. Copper conductors show a direct-current resistance not exceeding 75 Ω/km, so voltage drop remains low even at the maximum operating distance. Data integrity for 100-ohm Ethernet is maintained by a characteristic impedance of 100 ±5 Ω. A combination of aluminum foil and tinned-copper braid surrounds the pairs to suppress electromagnetic interference, and insulation resistance is rated at 5 GΩ/km or higher to prevent leakage currents.

Eight solid wires are arranged in a 4× 2× 23/1 AWG layout, delivering consistent pair geometry for differential signaling. A generous outer sheath of Polyurethane (PUR) resists oil, abrasion, and constant flexing encountered near HMI hinges or drag chains. Control circuits inside the panel remain within the cable’s safe working limit of 125 V or less. The assembly carries an ingress protection level of IP20, matching typical sheltered cabinet environments, and each conductor is surrounded by Polyethylene (PE) insulation that offers low dielectric loss across the specified temperature and frequency range.
