The 4D1166.00-K16/8 is an operator interface panel from B&R Automation and belongs to the 4D PanelWare Panels series. This human-machine interface mounts on the front of a control cabinet and lets operators issue commands and view process data through a graphics-capable LCD. In an automated cell, the unit replaces discrete pushbuttons and indicator lamps, giving the controller a compact visual and tactile point of interaction. Because the display and keypad are integrated into one front panel, status messages and machine commands can be handled from a single access point. Its front-mounted format also keeps routine interaction at the cabinet door rather than inside the enclosure.
The panel draws 150 mA at 24 VDC, so a standard low-voltage control supply is sufficient. Its display is an LCD that can operate in graphics mode at 128 × 240 pixels, while an alternate text mode shows 16 lines × 40 characters for menu-driven tasks. Text mode is useful for alarm lists, recipe prompts, and setup pages that do not require complex graphics. The aluminum front plate is sealed to IP65, which helps block dust and low-pressure water during vertical installation on machine enclosures. An overall depth of 38.6 mm keeps the rear projection short and leaves more clearance for wiring inside shallow panels.
User input is provided by a keypad arranged as 16 function, 12 num, 14 user, 5 cursor keys, giving direct access to machine parameters without nested screens. Dedicated keys can shorten navigation time when an operator needs to change setpoints or acknowledge alarms quickly. The enclosure spans 214 mm in width and 326 mm in height, dimensions that match standard panel cutouts for this style of interface. During transport or plant-floor shock events, the housing endures 15 g for 11 msec, and it also survives vibration testing of 20 cycles per axis to help protect the internal boards and display backlight.
