The 4D1166.00-K04 operator panel is manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 4D PanelWare Panels series. This unit combines a fixed-format LCD and a membrane keypad so operators can view process data and send commands to PLCs, drives, or safety relays directly on the machine. By housing text display, LED feedback, and key actuation in one enclosure, the panel serves as a compact human-machine interface that eliminates the need for a separate PC in many industrial control cabinets.

The display offers a resolution of 128 x 240 pixels, organized into 16 lines with up to 40 characters per line, which allows alarms, recipe names, and parameter tables to appear simultaneously without scrolling. Characters are 4 mm high, so information remains readable at typical mounting distances. A White LCD display provides the imaging layer, and with its black-on-white color scheme and CFL backlight, the screen maintains contrast in dim production areas. The vertical mechanical format lets builders position the panel beside pushbuttons or signal towers on narrow door panels while keeping wiring short.

The keypad contains 47 keys for function selection, numeric input, and navigation, and each key is coupled to one of 31 key LEDs that illuminate when the associated function is active. The molded aluminum bezel meets a front protection rating of IP65, guarding the electronics from dust and water jets during washdown or maintenance. Cabinet integration is simplified by the shallow 38.6 mm depth and 214 mm width, and the electronics draw only 300 mA at 24 VDC, allowing the panel to share the standard control-loop power rail. Built-in graphics capability lets the panel overlay simple bitmaps on text fields, aiding quick status recognition without adding extra processing load to the controller.
