Product Description:
B & R Automation’s 4D1166.00-490 is a text-graphic operator panel in the 4D PanelWare Panels series. Mounted on control cabinets or machine frames, the unit serves as a local human-machine interface that displays process data and accepts operator commands through membrane keys. By combining an LCD display with configurable key functions, it bridges programmable logic controllers and the shop floor, allowing users to monitor status messages, adjust set points, and acknowledge alarms without accessing the control PC. The layout is suited for direct interaction at the machine, so routine viewing and input can take place at the panel. It ties into the machine’s low-voltage control rail and occupies minimal depth, which helps with retrofits in tight enclosures.
The visualization section uses a white LCD panel lit by a CFL miniature fluorescent tube, so contrast remains stable in dim work areas. The display uses a 128 x 240-pixel matrix, which permits bar graphs, icons, and small bitmaps in addition to alphanumeric strings. Each row can hold 40 characters, and the screen uses sixteen lines, which reduces the need for frequent page changes on status screens. Character height is 4 mm, and operators can select single, double, or quadruple font sizes to emphasize critical values. This arrangement leaves room for short menus, alarm text, and process values on the same page.
Interface hardware is arranged around a keypad with 47 tactile switches, and printed key labels keep function assignments visible even under oil mist. The electronics draw 300 mA at 24 VDC, which keeps heat dissipation low and allows the unit to share the machine’s standard power bus. A sealed front bezel rated IP65 blocks dust ingress and water jets during washdown cleaning. The panel has a height of 326 mm and a width of 214 mm, while its 38.6 mm depth helps it fit most control enclosures without an oversized cutout. Printed legends also make recurring functions easier to identify during normal operation.
