Product Description:
The 4D1166 is a human-machine interface panel produced by B & R Automation as part of the 4D PanelWare Panels series. Intended for mounting on machine fronts or cabinet doors, it presents text and bitmapped graphics to PLC-controlled equipment and accepts operator input through its membrane keys. The unit can show up to sixteen lines of process information in a vertical layout, allowing operators to view alarms, setpoints, and status messages directly at the machine. Because it combines display and keyed input in one housing, the panel supports local interaction where a full PC-based interface is unnecessary.
The display technology is an LCD, giving the module low power dissipation for continuous duty. Its graphic section works at 128 x 240 pixels, so small pictograms and bar graphs can accompany the alphanumeric content. That resolution provides enough space for icons, status fields, and simple process graphics without overcrowding the screen. Illumination is provided by a CFL backlight, which gives even lighting across the display area. With a foreground and background combination of Black on White, the characters remain legible in control rooms with mixed ambient lighting. Each row holds 40 characters, and the 4 mm character height is suitable for a viewing distance of about 1 meter.
The front is made of Aluminum and uses a sealing gasket that raises the enclosure rating to IP65, blocking dust and water jets when the panel is flush mounted. The housing depth is 38.6 mm, so the unit fits shallow enclosures while still leaving space for field wiring. This shallow body is useful where door depth is limited by relays, terminal blocks, or bundled cable routes behind the cutout. Nominal consumption is 300 mA at 24 VDC, which lets the panel share standard control-cabinet power supplies without overloading them. Behind the aluminum overlay, thirty-one LED keys provide direct access to machine functions, and the overall size is 326 mm by 214 mm.
