The 4B1500.00-590 operator panel is produced by B & R Automation for the 4B1 PanelWare Panels series. It serves as a compact human-machine interface that allows machine builders to present process data and accept commands directly at the cabinet door. The unit combines a character-based LCD display with a sealed keypad so that operators can monitor status messages, enter setpoints, and navigate simple menus in small-scale automation cells.

Mechanical clearance requirements are minimized by the panel’s depth of 62 mm, letting it fit into shallow enclosures. Information is shown on an LCD that renders up to 2 x 20 characters, giving space for alarm codes or parameter names without graphics overhead. Firmware and application pages are stored in 256 KB of FlashPROM, while an equal amount of SRAM supports volatile variables during runtime. The front membrane carries IP54 protection, so dust deposits and water splashes encountered on a factory floor will not reach the electronics. For direct function assignment, there are 16 matrix keys that can be labeled for mode changes, recipe calls, or jog commands. Height and width are each 192 mm, the housing is colored black, and a 4-pin terminal block provides the power hookup.

Numeric data entry is completed with 12 dedicated numerical keys, and inbound or outbound serial traffic can be separated across 2 RS232 interfaces plus one RS422/485 channel for multipoint links. The electronics are supplied from a control circuit at 24 VDC, removing the need for onboard conversion stages and simplifying field wiring. A bezel width of 192 mm aligns with standard cutout dimensions, while the matching 192 mm height maintains a square footprint that simplifies gasket placement.
