The 4B1270.00-K51 4B1 PanelWare Panel from B & R Automation. B & R Automation is known for providing industrial control and HMI solutions. The 4B1 PanelWare Panels feature a 4×20-character monochrome LCD. The screen includes yellow/green LED backlighting with approximately 200 cd/m² brightness. The display supports vertical mounting and has a 5 mm character height. Contrast adjustment is done using dedicated keypad controls.
The 4B1270.00-K51 4B1 PanelWare Panel has a keypad that includes 20–24 membrane keys, depending on the variant. Out of these, 12–14 keys are LED-illuminated for better visibility. The left keypad block allows customization with legend strips. Transparent overlays make legends easily replaceable from the front side. An insert strip kit is available under code 4A0046.00-000. The right keypad block includes fixed navigation arrows. It also contains a green Enter key and a red Cancel/Stop key. The Power is supplied via a 3-pin terminal block at 24 VDC with an input range of 18–30 VDC. The typical power consumption is between 2.7 to 3.3 W with a maximum of around 3.8 W. The rear section has a 9-pin D-sub connector for the CAN interface. The CAN interface is electrically isolated for safety. Baud rate and node ID are set using recessed hex switches. The housing includes dual rotary or DIP switches accessible via slots. The unit measures approximately 153 mm × 120 mm × 43.7 mm. It weighs around 420 g depending on the variant.
The 4B1270.00-K51 4B1 PanelWare Panel operates reliably in 5 to 50 °C with 5 to 95 % RH non-condensing. The front bezel is made from rugged plastic or metal and is IP54 rated. An optional IP65 bezel is available for higher protection. The back housing is built from metal with heat-dissipating fins. The certifications include UL listing and CE marking. The unit supports ASCII, ESC, and CSI protocols via CAN, with no onboard memory or scripting.
