Product Description:
The 4B1250.00-590 is a compact operator interface panel produced by B & R Automation in the 4B1 PanelWare Panels series. It serves as a front-mounted human-machine interface that relays machine status and accepts user commands in automated cells, conveyor lines, and compact process skids. By combining a character display, tactile keys, and serial connectivity, the unit lets operators adjust setpoints and acknowledge alarms without a full PC-based terminal. This helps save cabinet space and simplifies wiring in distributed control architectures.
The panel stores configuration pages in a 32 KB EEPROM, so operating parameters remain intact after power loss. Its monochrome screen shows messages in a 4 x 20 characters format, and the content remains readable in low-light areas because the display is LED backlit. Operators interact through twelve number keys and twelve function keys, and each function key includes an indicator lamp that highlights active selections. The polyester front foil is rated IP65, allowing washdown cleaning while blocking dust and oil spray. The panel has a mechanical depth of 30 mm, a width of 145 mm, and a height of 180 mm, which supports flush mounting in shallow doors.
Electrical power is supplied at 5.2 VDC with typical consumption of 1.8 W, so the panel can be fed directly from logic-level supplies inside a PLC rack. Data exchange with the controller takes place over an RS-232 channel that is presented on a 9-pin male D-sub connector. The non-isolated link supports cable runs up to 15 m at 9600 bit/s, which matches most short-range operator panel installations. Interface status is indicated by the key LEDs, and the lack of galvanic isolation means shielded cable routing is preferred when noisy motor drives are nearby.
