Product Description:
The 0PS120.1 is an AC/DC power supply from the 0PS series, designed by B & R Automation. It supports an input voltage range of AC 85 to 132 V or AC 184 to 264 V and comes with stable screw clamp terminal blocks for secure connections. This supply has LED indicators to show operational status, its green LED indicates normal operation while the red LED shows overload condition.
The 0PS120.1 power supply operates at 47 to 63 Hz frequency while utilizes less than 10 A of current when operating in the 115 V range and up to 5 A in the 230 V range. This device offers external fuse protection through a thermomagnetic circuit breaker and it is transient-proof in accordance with VDE 0160/W2 standard. The 0PS power supply generates output voltage in the range of 24 to 28 VDC with a maximum output power capability of 480 W. Its overvoltage protection is activated when the output reaches 31 V ±3% and the permissible output load is 20 A at 24 V or 18 A at 28 V. It operates with 90% efficiency along with a typical power loss of 53 W at a 230 VAC input and 24V/20A output. The 0PS power supply possess a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 519000 hours to ensure long-term reliability.
The 0PS120.1 power supply operates in temperatures ranging from 0 to 70°C with 95% RH humidity and it can be stored between -25 to 85°C. The unit mounts easily on a top-hat rail and it comes with a compact size that measures 220 mm in width, 124 mm height and 102 mm depth. The 0PS power supply weighs 1800 g and it requires no blower fan for cooling but relies on natural convection.
Frequently Asked Questions about 0PS120.1:
Q: Why does the 0PS120.1 use thermomagnetic circuit breakers instead of conventional fuses?
A: Thermomagnetic breakers offer automatic reset capability and better response to overloads, improving long-term system reliability and reducing downtime in industrial environments.
Q: How does natural convection cooling benefit the 0PS120.1 power supply?
A: Without a fan, it reduces mechanical failure points and operating noise, allowing for maintenance-free operation in enclosed or vibration-prone panels.
Q: What is the role of overvoltage protection at 31 V ±3% in the 0PS120.1?
A: It prevents damage to sensitive downstream electronics by shutting down output when voltage exceeds the safe operating limit, enhancing device safety.
Q: Why is a wide input voltage range important in the 0PS120.1?
A: It allows compatibility with both global AC power standards (85–132 V or 184–264 V), supporting international machine deployment without hardware changes.
Q: Is the 0PS120.1 power supply compliant with any specific transient protection standard?
A: Yes, it is transient-proof according to VDE 0160/W2, which ensures it can handle electrical surges in industrial environments.
