Product Description:
The 0PS1042.2 is a compact DIN-rail power supply built by B & R Automation for the 0PS Power Supplies series. It converts single-phase mains power into a regulated 24 V output that supplies PLC backplanes, sensors, and low-power actuators in industrial automation cells. The enclosure uses screw terminals for field wiring and has a Protection Class II rating, so no protective earth conductor is required. By combining cabinet-depth mounting with internal safeguards, the module supports reliable control-voltage distribution in machines and process skids.
The supply maintains an output of 24 VDC ±1% and delivers a continuous current of 4.2 A, providing 100 W of DC power for downstream loads. Its housing carries an IP20 ingress protection rating, limiting finger or tool access to live parts while remaining ventilated for convection cooling. Dielectric integrity is supported by a type-test isolation voltage of 4 kV AC between the input and output circuits, allowing installation in systems with reinforced insulation requirements. The screw terminals accept conductors stripped to 6.5 mm, and this connection type simplifies the routing of auxiliary supplies along a rail. An internal 4 A slow-blow fuse opens the primary circuit during prolonged overloads. The rated load loss of 13.2 W is dissipated through the metal baseplate to keep component temperatures within acceptable limits.
During transient faults, the current limiter caps the output at 6.5 A, protecting downstream wiring from excessive peak stress. At idle, the converter draws only 0.7 W, reducing standby consumption in machines that remain energized but inactive for long periods. Output ripple stays within 25 mV peak-to-peak, supporting analog transducers that are sensitive to supply noise, and stable regulation is retained at service altitudes up to 6000 m without derating. The status LED illuminates when the bus voltage exceeds the 21.5 V threshold, providing a clear visual indication that the output is active.
