The BRCOMP2-0 module is part of the 0GH PLC Modules series produced by B&R Automation. Installed beside a central CPU, it equips a control system with mixed-signal capability so that sensors, actuators, and high-frequency transducers can all be wired to a single backplane. Within an automation cell, this unit converts field-level voltages and counts into deterministic logic states that are then executed in ladder or structured-text programs. This arrangement lets one module handle process measurement, pulse capture, and switched output control in the same rack.
Its two differential analog inputs capture process data with 16-bit resolution, while the pair of voltage outputs updates valves or drive references at 12-bit granularity, which helps reduce quantization error in closed-loop tasks. Four counter channels track shaft encoders or flowmeters up to 20 kHz, providing pulse accuracy for motion or batching applications. A measured input response time of 2 ms ensures that edge changes on the sixteen digital input points reach the PLC scan before they lose relevance. All circuitry is supplied from a control cabinet rail at 24 VDC, eliminating the need for additional converters.
The module provides 14 digital outputs, and each channel can source up to 1 A, so contactors and indicator loads switch without mechanical wear. Total module demand stays within 6.5 W, which simplifies thermal planning inside fanless enclosures. Program variables and machine counters are buffered by 16 KByte of SRAM, while nonvolatile storage is also available in onboard EEPROM and expansion EEPROM for recipes or calibration constants. The combination of digital, analog, and counter functions makes the module suitable for medium-sized machines that need discrete control and measured feedback from one backplane position.
