The B & R Automation 0GH-UM161 is a PLC module from the 0GH PLC Modules series. It features four differential 14-bit analog inputs with ±10 V signal range and three 12-bit analog outputs, also at ±10 V. The module includes fourteen dedicated digital inputs and two 24 VDC digital outputs, and operates with a total power consumption of 6 W.
Internal Product Review
The 0GH-UM161 is a B & R Automation PLC module built for flexible signal handling, featuring 4 analog inputs. The 14-bit input resolution and ±10 V analog input signal support accurate measurement across common industrial ranges. Digital integration is equally strong with 14 dedicated digital inputs and 24 VDC operation, making the module a very capable choice for mixed-signal control.

Product Description:
The 0GH-UM161 is a mixed-signal I/O module manufactured by B & R Automation for the 0GH PLC Modules series. Designed to extend a controller’s field connections, the unit combines differential analog measurement, voltage output, and discrete switching in one enclosure. Within an automation cell it feeds process variables such as sensor voltages to the CPU and returns control voltages or relay commands, allowing the PLC to close analog loops while still reading high-speed digital events.
The analog front end offers four differential inputs with a cutoff frequency of 8 kHz, so signals up to that bandwidth reach the converter without aliasing. Each channel is digitized at 14-bit resolution, providing 16 384 quantization steps across the ±10-volt span. The same ±10 V input range simplifies direct wiring of industrial transducers. Three voltage outputs are produced by a separate DAC that resolves to 12-bit, yielding 4 096 distinct levels for actuator drive or set-point generation. All analog circuitry shares a common reference yet remains isolated from the logic domain by opto-couplers. Digital signaling conforms to 24 VDC levels, enabling straightforward connection to standard proximity sensors and contact blocks.
Fourteen dedicated digital inputs monitor status bits while two sourcing digital outputs switch external loads. The faster output path exhibits a propagation delay of 10 µs, suitable for motion-related strobes. One channel can deliver up to 2 A to energize solenoids or lamps without an auxiliary relay. For front-panel adjustments, an internal supply provides ±10 V and can source or sink up to ±80 mA through a connected potentiometer, allowing manual set-point entry. Overall module consumption does not exceed 6 W, so thermal rise remains low when the device is mounted side-by-side on a DIN rail.
