Product Description:

The 0GH-IP161 module is a programmable logic controller (PLC) component produced by B & R Automation within the 0GH PLC Modules series. It installs on a local rack to provide combined analog, digital, and communication resources for machine control tasks. In an automation cell this module executes ladder, structured text, or function block programs and supplies field-level signals to actuators and sensors through its integrated channels. Its hardware platform balances processing speed with low power demand for compact cabinets.

Its analog subsystem offers six inputs accepting a bipolar range of ±10 V and six outputs that drive the same ±10 V span. The input converter resolves signals at 14-bit depth, while the output stage delivers commands with 12-bit granularity, allowing tight process control for temperature, pressure, or position loops. Up to twelve digital inputs and twelve digital outputs share a common supply rail rated at 24 VDC. Each sourcing output can feed loads up to 0.1 A. Scan performance is driven by an instruction cycle of 0.4 µs, so discrete events are captured without latency even when all channels are active. Debouncing logic and edge detection are handled in hardware to cut CPU overhead during fast cycles.

Field networking and memory resources are sized for mid-range machines. The CAN interface transmits process data at up to 500 kBit/s, and an RS232 port supports point-to-point diagnostics at 115.2 kBaud. Application code resides in 1.5 MB of FlashPROM, while variables and retentive data occupy 850 kB of battery-backed SRAM. Maximum input power is limited to 18 W, permitting installation in cabinets with limited thermal headroom. These capacities allow the 0GH-IP161 to manage motion axes, collect high-speed analog trends, and funnel status information upstream through deterministic bus cycles without overloading the controller.
