Internal Product Review

The 0GH-EX350 is a B&R Automation PLC expansion module designed as an expansion master for secured B&R local I/O bus expansion. High channel density with 1024 digital I/O points and 512 analog I/O points makes this unit especially effective in large distributed control architectures. Low 1.5 W power consumption and IP20 protection make the 0GH-EX350 an efficient choice for control cabinet integration.

Product Description:

The 0GH-EX350 is an expansion master module manufactured by B&R Automation for the 0GH PLC Modules series. Installed alongside a main CPU, the unit extends local control racks so that additional field signals can be integrated into an industrial automation cell. It connects to adjacent I/O carriers through the secured B&R local I/O bus and serves purely as a bridge, adding no user-visible indicators or independent processing. Because it extends the local rack instead of acting as a separate controller, application logic remains in the main CPU while the module passes bus communication to the added carriers.

This module supports up to 512 In / 512 Out analog points and 1024 In / 1024 Out digital points, enabling large-scale data acquisition and actuator control without separate remote terminals. A protection rating of IP20 allows cabinet mounting where only limited dust ingress is expected. Power is drawn from the backplane at 1.5 W on the 5 V DC rail, so thermal dissipation remains low even when all channels are populated. The controller chain can be lengthened by back-plugging up to 4 expansion backplanes, which allows a larger local station without changing to a different bus structure. Continuous operation is permitted from 0 to 60°C, matching typical temperatures inside industrial control enclosures.

The module operates in humidity from 5 to 95% non-condensing, so it can be used in damp production areas where condensation is controlled. Physical insertion is limited to the PS465 power supply slot, which keeps bus power and timing connections aligned without extra wiring. Internal settings are retained in battery-backed RAM, and total consumption remains limited to the backplane supply, so no separate 24 V feed is needed for the module itself. During storage or shipment, the electronics can withstand -25 to 70°C without damage from normal warehouse or transit conditions.
