Internal Product Review
The 0GH-DO428 is a B & R Automation PLC module with 32 transistor outputs and 24 VDC nominal voltage. Four output groups with group-group isolation simplify channel segmentation in distributed control panels. Overload protection and a 500 Hz maximum switching frequency make the module a strong choice for fast, reliable digital output handling.

Product Description:
The 0GH-DO428 is a digital transistor output module in the 0GH PLC Modules series from B & R Automation. Mounted on a controller backplane, it translates logical signals into switched field power lines so that actuators such as lamps, solenoids, and small relays can be driven directly by the PLC. Semiconductor switching gives the unit the fast response and long service life required for repetitive industrial tasks. This operating style makes the module suitable for control points that must switch loads frequently during normal machine cycles.
Internally, the card is divided into 4 groups, each containing eight channels, for a total of 32 transistor outputs. The outputs share a common supply within each group, yet group-to-group isolation is provided so that a wiring fault on one block does not affect the others. Normal operation is based on a nominal field voltage of 24 VDC, and each channel can switch up to 0.5 A at a maximum frequency of 500 Hz. Power dissipated by the onboard electronics is limited to 5 W, which helps reduce heat buildup inside a crowded enclosure. Because there is no output-to-output isolation within a group, all eight channels in that group must use the same supply potential, while output-to-PLC isolation helps protect the backplane circuitry.
Current handling is managed at multiple levels. A single group may draw up to 4 A, and the entire module is limited to 16 A through the common power feed. Thermal stress per group is capped at 2 W/Group, complementing the internal five-watt ceiling and helping keep localized heating under control. When an output is commanded off, transistor leakage is restricted to 0.3 mA, which helps prevent unwanted activation of sensitive loads. Built-in overload protection turns a channel off if current rises above the permitted limit, and transistor switching allows normal operation to resume after the fault is removed. The grouped isolation arrangement also helps contain electrical problems to a single section instead of interrupting every output on the module.
