Product Description
EtherCAT technology can be used in industrial automation for real-time computing functionalities. EtherCAT was developed by Beckhoff Automation and is based on an industrial Ethernet system. As such, an Ethernet/IP terminal can be configured by a Beckhoff EtherCAT master allowing different process data. When linking multiple devices, the distance between two adjacent devices should not be more than 100 meters to minimize signal attenuation.
The Beckhoff EL6652 is an EtherNet/IP master terminal with a switched 2-port Ethernet connection allowing it to be interfaced with other EtherNet/IP devices/nodes. The EL6652 supports a maximum of 16 slave nodes, a maximum data length of 1 kilobyte (input and output) and can be configured using an EtherCAT master. The EL6652 has a 100BASE-TX Ethernet interface comprised of 2 RJ 45 ports and operates with a voltage of 5 Volts supplied via a bus coupler. This device reaches optimal performance when installed and operated in an environment with a surrounding temperature ranging from a minimum of 0 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 55 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity not exceeding 95 percent without condensation. With CE and UL approvals, EL6652’s usage is not confined by geographical boundaries. The terminal is designed to be housed in a cabinet or mounted in environments that are not prone to liquid spillage because the terminal is not protected against liquids.
Two special features provided the Beckhoff EtherNet/IP master terminal is the ability to send IP packets to one recipient on a network (Unicast transmission) and the ability to send IP packets to multiple hosts on a network (Multicast transmission).
